Best Battery for Suzuki Alto, Cultus, WagonR & Mehran in Pakistan

Small Suzukis in Pakistan use small batteries. A Mehran or Bolan runs a 12V, 32–45 Ah battery; the Alto, Cultus and WagonR use roughly 35–45 Ah. These are light-load cars, so an oversized battery is wasted money and may not fit the tray. Match the code on your existing battery and you are done.

Quick summary

  • Mehran / Bolan: ~32–45 Ah, 12V. The carburettor Mehran is the lightest load of all.
  • Alto (660cc), Cultus, WagonR: ~35–45 Ah, 12V, JIS terminals.
  • Oversizing is a waste and can foul the tray or hold-down — match, don’t upsize.
  • These small batteries are cheap to replace and quick to fit.

Why these cars take small batteries

The Alto, Cultus, WagonR, Mehran and Bolan are light cars with small engines and few electrical extras. The starter motor does not need much, and there is no heavy electronics load, so the factory battery is small — typically 35–45 Ah, and as little as 32 Ah on an old carburettor Mehran. That is by design, not cost-cutting.

ModelTypical batteryNotes
Mehran (carburettor)~32–38 AhLightest electrical load of any car sold here
Mehran (EFI) / Bolan EFI~38–45 AhEFI needs a slightly healthier battery
Alto 660cc (2019 on)~35–45 Ah, JISAGS-style small case; AC and power windows on higher trims
Cultus / WagonR~38–45 Ah, JISWagonR VXL with more features at the top of the range

Do not oversize

People sometimes fit a 55 or 65 Ah battery to an Alto thinking bigger is better. In practice it:

  • Costs more for capacity the car will never use.
  • May not fit the small battery tray, or the hold-down clamp will not reach.
  • Charges more slowly on short trips because the small alternator cannot keep a big battery topped up — so it can actually live in a worse state of charge.

Match the original size. If you genuinely want a little more margin — you have added a big sound system, for example — one step up is the most that makes sense, and only if it physically fits.

Terminals

These Suzukis use JIS (Japanese) terminals — small posts. The batteries are compact, so also check the terminal side (which end the positive is on) matches, or the cables will not reach.

Common issues

  • Slow crank on cold mornings — a small battery has little reserve, so it shows its age quickly.
  • Weak horn and dim lights at idle — often just a loose or corroded terminal on these light cars.
  • Mehran won’t start after sitting a few days — the tiny battery self-discharges; a dry (maintenance-free) small battery holds charge better.

Maintenance-free or conventional

Both are cheap in these sizes. A dry maintenance-free small battery is the low-hassle choice for a car that is not driven daily — common with a second-car Mehran or Bolan. A conventional one is fine for a daily-driven Alto if you check the water monthly.

Fitting

Send your model, year and a photo of the current battery label. These are quick jobs — the rider brings the correct small battery, fits it in a few minutes, checks the crank and lights, and takes the old one in exchange, with a warranty card. Delivered across Lahore, usually within 60–90 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

What size battery does a Suzuki Mehran take?

A 12V battery of about 32–45 Ah — the carburettor Mehran uses the smallest (around 32–38 Ah) because it has the lightest electrical load of any car sold here. EFI Mehran and Bolan are slightly more.

What battery for a Suzuki Alto 660cc?

Roughly 35–45 Ah, 12V, with JIS terminals in a small case. Higher trims with AC and power windows are at the top of that range. Match your existing battery's label.

Can I fit a bigger battery to my Cultus or WagonR?

It is not worth it. A larger battery may not fit the small tray or hold-down, costs more for unused capacity, and the small alternator struggles to keep it charged on short trips. Match the original size.

My Mehran won't start after sitting for a few days — why?

The small battery self-discharges over time, especially in heat. A dry (maintenance-free) small battery holds its charge better. Also check the terminals are clean and tight — a common issue on light cars.

Are these Suzuki batteries expensive?

No — the small sizes these cars use are among the cheapest batteries, and quick to fit. Send your model and we will quote the price after old-battery exchange.
