Best Battery for Honda Vezel, Toyota Aqua & Hybrid Cars in Pakistan
A hybrid like the Honda Vezel, Toyota Aqua or Prius has two batteries: the large high-voltage drive battery (a specialist item, not what this is about) and a small 12V auxiliary battery that powers the computers, locks and the start-up sequence. That 12V battery is usually a compact AGM type around 35–45 Ah, and when it weakens the car often shows warning lights or will not “ready” up.
Quick summary
- Two batteries: the HV drive battery (specialist) and a small 12V auxiliary battery.
- The 12V auxiliary is usually AGM, ~35–45 Ah, sometimes in the boot or under a seat.
- A weak 12V battery causes warning lights, no “READY”, and dead locks — not a drive-battery fault.
- Use the correct AGM type; a normal flooded battery is a poor substitute here.
- Send the model, year and where the battery is: 0309-7179133.
Two batteries, two jobs
A hybrid does not have a conventional starter motor turning the engine on a big 12V battery. Instead:
- The high-voltage battery (nickel-metal-hydride or lithium, hundreds of volts) drives the electric motor and starts the petrol engine. This is a dealer/specialist item and is not covered here.
- The 12V auxiliary battery wakes the car up: it powers the ECUs, the door locks, the dash, and closes the relays that connect the high-voltage system. Once the car is “READY”, a DC-DC converter keeps this 12V battery charged from the HV side.
When people say “my Aqua battery is dead”, 95% of the time they mean this small 12V auxiliary battery.
What the 12V battery looks like
It is usually a compact AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery, roughly 35–45 Ah. AGM is sealed, spill-proof and handles the shallow charge-discharge cycling of a hybrid better than a flooded battery. On many hybrids it lives in the boot (Prius, Aqua) or under a seat, not in the engine bay — and it often has a vent tube that must be reconnected on the new battery.
Signs the 12V auxiliary battery is failing
- A cluster of warning lights on start-up (hybrid system, ABS, traction, check-engine) that clear after a jump.
- The car will not go to “READY” — the dash lights up but the system will not connect.
- Central locking and the smart key stop working, or the windows lose their auto function.
- The car has been parked for a week or two and is completely unresponsive.
These are almost always the small 12V battery, not the expensive drive battery. A hybrid can be jump-started at its 12V battery (or the under-bonnet jump point) just like a normal car.
Why the right type matters
Fitting a cheap flooded battery in place of the AGM one is a false economy on a hybrid: it does not handle the cycling as well, may not be sealed for a cabin or boot location, and can trip charging-system warnings on some models. Use an AGM battery of the correct size and terminal layout, and reconnect the vent tube.
Replacement
Tell us the exact model and year (Vezel, Aqua, Prius, Fielder hybrid, Camry hybrid, Grace) and where the battery sits. We bring the correct AGM auxiliary battery, disconnect safely (hybrids need the right sequence), fit and reconnect the vent, and confirm the car goes to “READY” with no warning lights. Old battery taken in exchange, warranty card provided. Delivered across Lahore.
What we do not do
We supply and fit the 12V auxiliary battery. The high-voltage drive battery is a separate specialist repair — if your hybrid has a genuine drive-battery fault (persistent hybrid-system warning even with a good 12V battery, reduced EV performance, a flashing red car symbol), that needs a hybrid specialist, and we will tell you honestly if that is what your symptoms point to.

Does a Honda Vezel or Toyota Aqua have a normal battery?
It has a small 12V auxiliary battery — usually a compact AGM of about 35–45 Ah — separate from the large high-voltage drive battery. The 12V battery powers the computers and start-up; it is the one that usually needs replacing.
My hybrid shows lots of warning lights — is the drive battery finished?
Usually not. A weak 12V auxiliary battery throws a cluster of warning lights and can stop the car reaching 'READY'. If a jump-start clears them, it is the small 12V battery. A genuine drive-battery fault persists even with a good 12V battery.
Can I use an ordinary battery instead of AGM in my hybrid?
It is not advisable. AGM handles the hybrid's shallow cycling better, is sealed for boot or cabin mounting, and avoids charging-system warnings on some models. Use the correct AGM size and reconnect the vent tube.
Where is the 12V battery in a Prius or Aqua?
Often in the boot, sometimes under a seat, rather than the engine bay. It usually has a vent tube that must be transferred to the new battery. Tell us the model and we will bring the right one and fit it correctly.
Can you replace the hybrid drive battery?
No — that is a specialist repair. We supply and fit the 12V auxiliary battery. If your symptoms point to a genuine drive-battery fault, we will tell you and you will need a hybrid specialist.
