What moves the price of a car battery

Four things decide where your car lands in the range:

• Capacity (Ah) — the biggest factor. A 100 Ah battery has about twice the lead of a 45 Ah one and costs roughly two to three times as much.
• Brand tier — genuine local brands (AGS, Osaka, Exide, Volta) sit in a mid band; unbranded is cheaper but risky, premium imports cost more.
• Maintenance-free vs conventional — MF costs more than a conventional battery of the same capacity, and that gap is usually larger than the difference between brands.
• The lead market and the rupee — when these move, every brand's price moves together, which is why we quote today's rate rather than publish a fixed list.

Common mistakes when buying a car battery in Lahore

• Buying a battery that is too small to save money — it has less reserve, ages faster in the heat, and you often replace it twice in the time a correct one would last.
• Not checking the manufacturing date — a battery that sat in a warehouse for a year has already lost life. Always ask to see the date code before it is fitted.
• Fitting the wrong terminal type — a DIN-post battery in a JIS car (or the reverse) never clamps properly and behaves like a weak battery.
• Ignoring the alternator — a charging system putting out the wrong voltage will kill any new battery. Have it checked (13.8–14.6 V running) when the new battery goes in.
• Choosing an unbranded battery for the discount — recycled cells and weak warranty support usually make it the most expensive choice over its life.

Seasonal advice

Lahore's heat, not cold, does the damage — but a summer-weakened battery usually fails on the first cold morning. Treat a battery over two years old as due for a free load test at the start of both summer and winter.
